Genetic diversity and population structure analysis of Capoeta trutta (Heckel, 1843) in Turkey and Iraq based on mitochondrial d loop gene

Capoeta trutta, a species of cyprinid with economic importance thriving in fresh water, is considered to hold substantial potential for commercial growth Turkey and Iraq. In recent years, it has been observed that there decrease the populations this species, which lives naturally Euphrates Tigris river systems. For long-term fishing conservation strategies, necessary determine genetic structure take measures accordingly. study, total 125 fish samples from 8 were collected mtDNA D-loop site was analyzed by sequencing, determining structures C. trutta populations, basic data obtained sustainability stocks species. analyzes made target gene region, 16 polymorphic regions 22 haplotypes determined; mean haplotype nucleotide diversity calculated as 0.847 0.00675, respectively.
